Travel Training

Travel Training helps young people build the confidence and skills they need to travel independently, whether that’s by bus, train, or walking routes.

Being able to use public transport safely is a key life skill. It helps young people make their own choices, take part in everyday activities, and reach their full potential.

During training, students learn about:

  • Building confidence when using buses or trains

  • Personal safety and awareness

  • Reading timetables and buying tickets

  • Road safety, including how to manage busy routes

  • What to do if things don’t go as planned (for example, if a bus is late)

Sessions usually take place once a week, though this may vary. Our trained staff also work during school and college holidays to ensure consistent support. Parents and carers receive regular updates on their child’s progress, so you’ll always know how they’re getting on.

If you’re interested in helping your child become more independent or simply want to learn more, please speak to us. You can ask at reception or contact the school office for more information.
