Post 16 at Belvue School
Welcome to Belvue Post 16, based at our main site on Rowdell Road. Our Post 16 provision offers an inclusive and supportive environment where pupils are encouraged to develop independence, confidence, and essential life skills as they transition into adulthood. Pupils progressing from Belvue High School at the end of Key Stage 4 are automatically eligible for a place, and we also warmly welcome applications from pupils at other schools—both within Ealing and beyond—who have an Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plan.
Our Post 16 curriculum combines core subjects such as English, Maths, Physical Education, and Relationships and Sex Education with a broad range of enrichment activities and vocational courses tailored to individual interests and career goals. Developed in partnership with local community organisations, our programme ensures that learning remains relevant, practical, and engaging. Through community involvement, enterprise projects, and work-related experiences, pupils build employability skills while developing a sense of responsibility and connection to the wider community.
At Belvue Post 16, we are committed to helping every pupil achieve their potential and prepare for a fulfilling, independent future.
Enrichment Experiences / Links with Parents and the Community
At Belvue Post 16, our Enrichment Experiences lie at the heart of our pupils’ journeys—celebrating success, fostering independence, and strengthening our invaluable links with parents and the community. Each experience is designed to inspire confidence, nurture essential life skills, and prepare pupils for life beyond Belvue, while also creating moments of joy, pride, and shared achievement.
Our Transition Evening in the autumn term supports families as they explore post-school pathways, with local further education colleges, training providers, and support services on hand to showcase opportunities and guidance for the next stage of each pupil’s journey. In the spring term, Employability Week brings the world of work to life through inspiring encounters with employers, workplace visits, and hands-on workshops that help pupils develop real-world employability skills and imagine exciting futures.
As part of the Belvue Journey, pupils also take part in residential trips that combine learning, adventure, and personal growth. From sailing and water-based activities in Salcombe to outdoor exploration and nature-based learning in the South Downs, these experiences encourage teamwork, resilience, and independence. At Post 16, residentials are longer in duration and more immersive, offering a balance of structured learning and social celebration as pupils prepare for adulthood.
The year culminates in two unforgettable celebrations that mark the pinnacle of the Belvue journey. Our Graduation Event is a truly special occasion that honours each pupil’s achievements—both academic and personal. Families, friends, and staff come together for an evening of recognition, pride, and reflection. Every pupil is celebrated for their unique contributions and growth, with awards presented for areas such as communication, independence, travel training, work skills, and community engagement. Graduates proudly don their gowns, and the evening concludes with the symbolic hat toss—a joyful and emotional moment that captures the spirit of transition and accomplishment.
Equally cherished is our Post 16 Prom, one of the most anticipated highlights of the school year. This glamorous event gives pupils a well-deserved opportunity to celebrate their achievements and friendships in style. Over the years, our Proms have been hosted in stunning venues—from the lively Masti Dinner and Dance Club in Wembley to exclusive celebrations at the elegant QVardis venue in Uxbridge. Pupils arrive in their finest attire and travel in style aboard a classic London Routemaster bus, complete with music and laughter as the festivities begin. A professional DJ, a delicious buffet, and a beautiful setting make the evening truly unforgettable—an experience filled with joy, pride, and lasting memories.
Together, these enrichment experiences embody the spirit of Belvue Post 16—celebrating individuality, strengthening community connections, and empowering every pupil to take their next steps with confidence, pride, and a deep sense of belonging.

Community Partnerships
We work with several local partners, enabling our school to provide valuable opportunities for our pupils. Community partnerships are essential for the development of our pupils and their future well-being and independence. These partnerships not only enrich learning activities but also offer meaningful opportunities for pupils to acquire social, employment, and volunteer skills, as well as confidence outside of school. These skills are vital for young people, especially those with special needs, to access community facilities, resources, and services independently. They help pupils understand where to go for leisure, fun, community engagement, or support.
We encourage our pupils to explore various activities they can participate in beyond school life and into adulthood, fostering both engagement and the confidence to access these opportunities as needed, while striving for maximum independence.
The school has established partnerships with organisations such as the Clementia Day Centre, Horsenden Farm, The Litten Nature Reserve, Open Ealing, Mencap, Hanwell Zoo, and many others. We are always eager to form new connections and provide a wide range of opportunities for our pupils to integrate into the community. Our partnerships create valuable work experience, teach life skills, promote community engagement, and help build positive relationships and confidence for our learners.
We would be delighted to hear from your organisation if you can offer any activities, visits, insights, interactions, or work experiences. Additionally, we host our annual Employability Week in March and would greatly appreciate your support in making a meaningful impact. Your involvement can help pupils connect with employers and navigate their pathways to community engagement, whether through voluntary or paid work, as they transition into adulthood.
Age UK:

Residential trips
Residential trips are a valued and enriching part of the pupil journey at our school. They provide meaningful opportunities for pupils to build independence, develop essential life skills, strengthen relationships with peers and staff, learn about the wider world, and create lasting memories.
We encourage all pupils to participate in at least one residential trip during each key stage. Each trip is carefully planned to challenge, inspire, and support the personal growth of every pupil.
Previous destinations include:
- Salcombe, Devon – Sailing and water-based activities
- Portland Bill YHA, Weymouth – Beach and coastal exploration
- Lewes YHA, South Downs – Countryside walking and nature-based learning
- Kingswood Adventure Centre, Kent – Team-building and outdoor adventures
- Blackwood Forest, Winchester – Forest learning and environmental discovery
- Haven Caravan Holidays – Social engagement at the clubhouse, beach walks, and other fun activities
By the time pupils reach Post-16, they are better prepared for a more substantial experience. Post-16 residentials last at least four nights and are designed to provide a deeper experience that combines extended learning of life skills and independence, reflection on their personal journey, and social celebration of their year group community. Destinations vary each year and have recently included stays at Haven Resort sites, where pupils enjoy a mix of structured activities and relaxed social time with friends. These residential trips also serve as a celebration of their time with us, offering a fun, supportive, and memorable experience as they prepare for their next steps.

Accessibility and Support
We believe every pupil should have the opportunity to benefit from residential experiences. The school heavily subsidises all trips, recognising their impact on personal development, social confidence, and educational enrichment.
While families are asked to contribute to the overall cost, we are committed to supporting those facing financial hardship. Wherever possible, no pupil will be excluded from participating due to financial barriers, and we encourage parents and carers to speak to us in confidence if support is needed.
Skills Builder
At Post-16, Skill Builder is a vital component of the curriculum, reflecting the increased focus on work skills, independence, and preparation for adulthood. We continue to develop and strengthen the Core Skills that equip our pupils for life beyond school. These skills are embedded in every aspect of the Post-16 experience — from employability and community learning to independent living and personal development.
Pupils are encouraged to use the language of each Core Skill with confidence and to recognise how these apply to real-life situations. They learn to identify and reflect on how they demonstrate these skills both in school and in their everyday lives, supporting a smooth and successful transition into further education, training, or employment.
