Post 16 go Bats for boxes!
On the 22nd the students met the team. At first they were apprehensive as they had not done anything like this before. However within a few minutes into their first task of making bat boxes they were all fully engaged and having fun. Once the boxes were made we went and chose suitable locations by the canal to place them.
With that finished the students were given the option of coming back in the evening to join members of the local community to detect bats using bat detectors.
Mr. Roberts was very pleased to see that at 7pm all of the students had turned up. They went with a large group of local residents to find the bats. After a long walk we were able to detect two different sorts. With a successful conclusion to the walk we returned the the community shop. Where we all had delicious pizza.
