Celebrating women’s right to vote

All Belvue pupils contributed to the making of a Belvue banner to participate in the Nationwide Processions March on 10th June.

This March celebrated 100 years of women being able to vote and showcased successes the women's movement has made in the last 100 years (professional women: lawyers, doctors, prime minister s) and also issues yet to be addressed (equal pay, representation in parliament)

It was a spectacular day with marches across London, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Belfast. Hundreds of different groups had made beautiful banners to parade and everyone wore sashes of green, violet or white which were the colours of the suffrage movement 100 years ago.

Our Belvue banner was a brightly coloured peacock to represent our memory of Miss Lord.
