ENTERPRISE

At Belvue School we feel strongly that the students should learn a range of skills that help them in later life. As part of this we run enterprise groups across the school and each learner is a member of the Belvue bank, this is an initiative around the understanding of the value of saving, as well as a reward system within school, click here to find out more about Belvue Bank.

Glass Making Company - 'Smashing Glass'

The older students have for the past few years run a company that makes and sells fused glass which we are immensely proud of. The company is called Smashing Glass. Students have sold the glass at an Enterprise day at Perceval House, Christmas craft fayres and have even sold their glass on travels to China! Our lanterns are particularly popular gifts to purchase. After a highly succesful two week residency at the West Ealing pop up shop, students now have use of the shop every Wednesday running workshops to the community. School Shop

This year a school shop was unveiled in the playground. Students stock the shop with items from the cash and carry such as juices, stationary and seasonal items such as sunglasses. The initiative is self-funding and students gain experience in developing skills such as stock taking, accounts, customer service and cashing up.

School Cafe

Students have run the tuck shop for students every day and a cafe for staff on fridays both of which are extremely popular.  Inddividual students have also run their own mini-enterprise initiatives running a coffee shop one morning a week, buying all the materials doing the baking, marketing and selling himself. Later on this year as part of our major grounds development we will have a new outdoor cafe installed which will create a major opportunity for enterprise within the school giving students opportunity to earn real hands on work based skills as well as providing a wonderful service to the younger students and staff within school.

Post 16 Discos

The post 16 students run discos and other fund raising events throughout the year often with a theme or attached to a particular event such as Halloween or Valentine's. Any funds that they raise are used to support their trips, proms or other treats which is collectively decided upon between the students.

School Breakfast Club

Belvue School also operates a breakfast club which is funded through the Friends Association of Belvue charity. It is open from 8.30am and is run by paid student workers. It is free of charge to all students. A varied seasonal menu is on offer with regular daily specials including home cooked muffins, pancakes, yoghurts and fruit. The breakfast club helped us to achieve our Healthy Schools Award.
